Art as the sum of immersion + knowledge

Photo

I suspect that what allows any creative endeavor to be considered a form of art, is the two step process of first:

Being immersed in it. Where you toil the land, work the ground, to understand and apply your techniques and knowledge in creating something for a purpose.

And second:

The knowledge that comes from stepping back from a micro view into a marco view. To acquire the knowledge that converts into wisdom, to be able to 'see' how your art work, fits into the grand canvas of an art filled world constantly in flux.

It is a two step process that exists as a cycle, one constantly leading into the next step, birthing something new in the process. You can't have one without the other. This is of course, purely suspicion.

Mystery demos, free jams and TV FAME revealed in this post!

We had rehearsal yesterday in preparation for a bunch of gigs we got lined up for the month of September. So it's been awhile, because we're lazy bastards, but we still managed to work on a song that we wrote about a month back. It's called "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" until someone decides otherwise. But I think we're pretty much set on it. Here it is for your listening pleasure:

Also, here's a little something of Thomas, whom I shall dub 'The Wunderkind' from now on, because he's just that good. Seriously, this rockstar's got a soul patch burned into his heart!

So yes, Chunkfest is confirmed, check out the 'GIGS!' page for more details!

And before we forget, you can catch LEESON on your telly! Just tune in to Channel NewsAsia tomorrow, Wednesday, 1 September 2010 at 8:30PM for a show called 'Millennials'. There's also a repeat at 11:30PM. CHEKKIT.

LEESON Behind The Scenes On Channel NewsAsia's Millennials

It was a rather strange week for the band, as we were taken out of hibernation after receiving a phone call from the producers of a current affairs programme, dubbed, Millennials. In it, we were supposed to help a rather plain looking fellow, achieve a 'geek chic' look, whatever that means. Apparently LEESON embodied the look, and while flattered, we didn't really think so.

Anyway, we were good sports, and the pictures you see were taken on the last day of the shoot at Lasalle College of the Arts' fashion studio. It pretty much looked like the set of project runway, their lecturer was a french man, and there were real good dressers since they were art students. But we tried to hold our own.

The episode will be airing this coming Wednesday, 1 September 2010, 830PM on the Channel NewsAsia channel. Do check it out, we'll be goofing around, and performing one of our favourite songs with an acoustic arrangement.

And yes, WELCOME to the first post on the new LEESON blog!
